Hybrid role from one of two offices, Bristol or Salford Quays
The Role
The Finance Manager – Financial Reporting forms part of the Financial Control team within the wider Dental Finance function. The role is to actively manager and ensure the integrity of the Bupa Dental Balance sheet, Cashflow and Month end and quarterly submission process internally and to MU and Group. To lead on external and internal audits, statutory accounts submissions (135 legal entities), and work closely with the Bupa tax team on corporation tax & VAT matters. To manage, coach and develop an team of 8 Financial Accountants.
Responsibilities
The role supports the Financial Controller in submission of consolidated Group reporting activities. To lead on the implementation and maintenance of controls, reconciliations and consistent reporting stream to MU and Group. The main activities of the role include:
• Overall accountability for monthly and quarterly reporting deliverables in line with tight deadlines this includes managing the
balance sheet and cashflow, as well as submitting the IFRS reported figures and manage the Solvency II quarterly
requirements.
• Work closely with the Finance Manager – Management Accounts to ensure that the end to end reporting cycle is completed, reporting
and reconciled in line with month end timelines.
• To lead the reconciliation and review of the balance ensuring reporting is in line with accounting standards and principles and
appropriate back up is maintained and filled.
• Validate the appropriate balances in respect of accruals, prepayments, provisions and related charges with full supporting
documentation ensuring the integrity of the balance sheet is maintained.
• Propose, Develop and Implement a suite of monthly actuals reports to aid understanding and decision making across the business with
respect to Capex and Property Leases
• Provide Business Case support where capex spend is required.
• Be data led, ensuring budget holders have relevant information required to make decisions and where possible, automate provision
of data
• Providing appropriate evidence and sign offs as well as adhering to statutory requirements.
• Be seen as a true partner to the Operational, Commercial and Finance leadership team building strong relationships with key
stakeholders and customers.
• Ad hoc work as appropriate.
Qualifications
• Hold a professional accountancy qualification – ICAEW, ACCA or CIMA (or equivalent)
• Minimum of 5 years experience in industry or practice within a range of finance roles preferrable;
• Confident to present analytics and options to senior leadership and Executive Teams, robustly challenge, holds an inquisitive mindset
and strong understanding of corporate and operational functions
• Preferred experience in healthcare or regulated financials services
• Storyteller – able to explain over arching finance messages to ET/ET-1 level within presentations whilst ensuring data and
systems integrity
• Holds and continually develops influencing and negotiation skills and the ability to achieve results and successful outcomes from
others where there is no shared line management.
• Flexible and pragmatic – able to work under significant pressure and intensity, handling multiple priorities both BAU and change and
taking a risk based approach
• Experience at lean processes valued but not essential
