Finance Business Partner – People Costs

    Permanent, Full-time

Hybrid role based at one of our offices: Bristol Support Centre, Manchester Bupa Place or London Angel Court.

    The Role

In this role, you’ll take ownership of analysing people‑related costs across our practices - including Clinicians, Nurses and Practice Admin teams - with a clear focus on identifying trends, understanding cost drivers and uncovering opportunities to improve business performance. You’ll provide insightful analysis that supports operational decision‑making, strengthens financial control and helps leaders across the organisation make informed choices about staffing, resourcing and productivity. By turning complex data into meaningful recommendations, you’ll play a key part in supporting sustainable growth and driving better financial outcomes across Bupa Dental Care.

    Responsibilities

    • Evaluate self‑employed staff spend - including Dentist, Hygienist and Therapist margins - and present key findings to senior management.
    • Analyse monthly trends in People costs at practice level, covering FTE data, agency usage and overtime for employed practice staff.
    • Use financial modelling to guide recruitment and advise Operations on the most appropriate contract types for clinician vacancies, ensuring costs stay aligned to AOP targets.
    • Utilise the clinician profitability model to identify contract outliers requiring further investigation.
    • Review and assess country‑specific clinician contracts.
    • Support the annual practice‑level budgeting process with a focus on staff costs, challenging assumptions, FTE requirements and identifying opportunities to meet business objectives.
    • Manage People cost–related projects, providing regular progress updates and ensuring successful implementation of changes.
    • Provide ad‑hoc analytical and project support to the Head of Finance.

    Skills/Experience

    • Qualified or Part‑Qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA or AAT).
    • Experienced Business Partner with a proven track record of driving change.
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
    • Advanced Excel capability, including modelling and pivot tables, with confident data review skills.
    • Strong PowerPoint and presentation skills.
    • Able to explain finance concepts clearly to non‑finance stakeholders and build strong working relationships.
    • Comfortable managing multiple stakeholders and projects simultaneously.
    • Proactive, curious and confident challenging the status quo, always seeking to understand the ‘why’.

    Benefits

The benefits here are industry-leading, and we’ll be able to tell you more about them in the process (or jump to the benefits and rewards page on our careers site for a flavour). But here’s a snapshot:

    • 25 days holiday, plus the option to buy more.
