    Finance Business Partner - Practice Costs (non staff)

    Hybrid role (Bristol Support Centre/ Manchester Bupa Place/ London Angel Court/ Leeds Kirkstall Forge) 

    The Role

    To focus on analysing key cost lines (excluding staff) in the Practice Profit and Loss, such as Direct costs (Labs, Consumables and Specialist Shared Costs) as well as Property, Facility, Utilities, IT, Maintenance and Repairs and Office costs; with the aim to understand trends, performance vs PY and vs AOP, with the aim to improve profitability.

    Accountabilities / Responsibilities
    • Work closely with Procurement in order to focus on reducing spend per item with key suppliers to aid the P/L and improving payment terms to improve cashflow.
    • Communicate to key stakeholders in Finance as well as Operations as to the risks and opportunities we have in meeting AOP targets for costs. Work closely with the FP&A team in order to ensure we have accurate latest forecasts.
    • Investigate anomalies, whereby costs are abnormally high by practice/ campus/ area/ region and work with Operations in order to drive improvements.
    • Be the financial gatekeeper for reviewing new supplier contracts, ensuring they are commercially favourable in order to reach our business objectives.
    • Produce cost specific slides for key management packs, such as the BPC, DEXT performance Health slides and for meetings with Operations, in order to ensure the correct message is being conveyed as to focus areas to improve profit margins. 
    • Manage specific projects on costs, being the expert in terms of financial modelling and understanding key drivers for cost reduction. 
    • Provide support with the annual practice level budgets, specifically focusing on costs, challenging assumptions and opportunities, in order to deliver business objectives.
    • Provide ad hoc support to the Head of Finance.


    Qualifications/Experience
    • Qualified/ Part Qualified accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA/ AAT)
    • Strong analytical skills
    • Advanced Excel and data review skills (modelling, pivot tables)
    • PowerPoint and presentational skills
    • Comfortable explaining finance concepts to non-finance people and building strong working 
    relationships
    • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and projects at the same time
    • Proactive and curious nature, seeking to understand the ‘why’ and challenge the status quo.
    Desirable but not essential:
    • Previous experience of working in a business partnering role/ strong understanding of the Dental 
    business.
