Hybrid role from one of two offices, Bristol or Salford Quays
The Role
The Finance Manager – Management Accounts forms part of the Financial Control team within the wider Dental Finance function. The
role is to provide finance support to the Dental Executive Team, the Finance Leadership Team and their teams to understand the Profit and
Loss Account including Operational P&L’s and Support Centre Costs. Actively manage, coach and develop a team of 4 management
accountants.
Responsibilities
The role supports the Financial Controller in providing finance support to the Dental Executive team member and their teams, as well as
delivering key financial processes including month end, rolling forecasts and the three year Plan. The main activities of the role include:
• Overall accountability for reviewing and reporting the Dental P&L (c£600m revenue, £580m cost base).
• Ensure all operational KPI’s are reported correctly and fully understood.
• Work closely with the Finance Manager – Financial Accounts to ensure that the end to end reporting cycle is completed, reporting and reconciled in line with tight month end timelines.
• Actively review management accounts before month end close, identifying and resolving material issues arising
• Validate the appropriate balances in respect of accruals, prepayments and related charges with full supporting
documentation ensuring the integrity of the balance sheet is maintained.
• Provide Exec level commentary and insightful MI across the P&L including but not limited to; monthly flash, ELOS and
functional/cost centre reporting.
• Propose, Develop and Implement a suite of monthly actuals reports to aid understanding and decision making across the business including supporting c400 practice managers and 8 Dental Executive Team members.
• Provide support as appropriate to the Operational and Commercial Finance Teams
• Be data led, ensuring budget holders have relevant information required to make decisions and where possible, automate provision of data
• Be financially accountable for advising functional leaders and CCMs on accounting including accruals and prepayments.
• Providing appropriate evidence and sign offs as well as adhering to statutory requirements.
• Be seen as a true partner to the Operational, Commercial and Finance leadership team building strong relationships with key stakeholders and customers.
• Ad hoc work as appropriate.
Qualifications
• Hold a professional accountancy qualification – ICAEW, ACCA or CIMA (or equivalent)
• Minimum of 5 years experience in industry or practice within a range of finance roles preferrable;
• Confident to present analytics and options to senior leadership and Executive Teams, robustly challenge, holds an inquisitive mindset and strong understanding of corporate and operational functions
• Preferred experience in healthcare or regulated financials services
• Storyteller – able to explain over arching finance messages to ET/ET-1 level within presentations whilst ensuring data and
systems integrity
• Holds and continually develops influencing and negotiation skills and the ability to achieve results and successful outcomes from others where there is no shared line management.
• Flexible and pragmatic – able to work under significant pressure and intensity, handling multiple priorities both BAU and change
and taking a risk based approach
• Experience at lean processes valued but not essential
