The Role
The Financial Accountant forms part of the Financial Control team within the wider Dental Finance function. The role is to carry out the day to day accounting processes including a focus on accounting control and audit within the specified legal entities with Dental. To produce month end and quarter end consolidated results in group systems, implementing and maintaining controls, reconciliations ensuring that P&L, balance sheet and Cashflow are reported in line with accounting principles. To support the Senior Financial Accountants on external and internal audits, statutory accounts submissions (135 legal entities), and corporation tax & VAT matters.
Responsibilities
The role supports the Senior Financial Accountants in submission of consolidated Group reporting activities. To support with the implementation and maintenance of controls, reconciliations and consistent reporting stream to MU and Group. The main activities of the role include:
- Support monthly and quarterly reporting deliverables in line with tight deadlines this includes managing the balance sheet and cashflow, as well as submitting the IFRS reported figures and manage the Solvency II quarterly requirements.
- Work closely with the Senior Financial Accountants to ensure that the end to end reporting cycle is completed, reported and reconciled in line with month end timelines.
- To support with the completion of reconciliation and review of the balance ensuring reporting is in line with accounting standards and principles and appropriate back up is maintained and filled.
- Validate the appropriate balances in respect of accruals, prepayments, provisions and related charges with full supporting documentation escalating any queries or concerns.
- Support with the completion of corporation tax and VAT returns.
- Support with the completion of statutory accountants working closely with the Senior Financial Accountants and supporting with audit queries and back up.
- Responsible for maintaining and running of the depreciation cycle
- Ad hoc work as appropriate.
Qualifications
- The successful candidate is likely to be part qualified or newly qualified in a professional qualification – ICEAW, ACCA or CIMA.
• The job holder will be expected to pursue a significant programme of personal development
• Proven ability to work under pressure and meet stretching and tight deadlines.
• Finance experience with a strong grasp of double entry is necessary for success in the role.
• Must be analytically and numerically minded
• Advanced PC skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and accountancy software – Oracle is preferrable
• Excellent Customer service skills, including communication, management of expectation, recommendations, quality of outputs etc
• The jobholder will be expected to proactively build and maintain relationships with customers throughout the Company
• Quick to learn and responsive to the needs of the business
• Proactive with a ‘can do’ approach
• The successful candidate will have good commercial skills and the ability to adapt to new environment quickly
