    UX Designer

    Full-time, Permanent

Hybrid - occasional travel to our Bristol and London office

    The Role

The UX Designer is responsible for shaping and delivering user-centred digital experiences across Bupa Dental Care’s patient- and clinician-facing products. Working closely with Product Owners, Clinical Services, Engineering and other stakeholders, this role focuses on designing intuitive, efficient and accessible tools that support clinical workflows and patient journeys.

We’re looking for a strong UX Designer with experience designing complex workflows/journeys to work within a collaborative, fast-paced environment, applying user-centred and design thinking approaches to solve real clinical problems and improve outcomes for clinicians and patients.

    Responsibilities

    • Lead UX design activities across patient- and clinician-facing digital initiatives, collaborating with cross-functional teams within Bupa Dental Care and wider Bupa.
    • Translate clinical, business and user needs into clear, user-centred design solutions that support safe, efficient and effective clinical workflows.
    • Design and evolve clinician interfaces, including side panels, note-taking tools and workflow components, optimised for use in high-focus clinical environments.
    • Produce UX deliverables such as user journeys, wireframes, interaction flows and interactive prototypes to support iterative delivery.
    • Partner closely with Product Owners and Engineering teams to ensure designs are feasible, well implemented and aligned to product goals.
    • Conduct and support user research activities with clinicians, including interviews, usability testing and workflow validation, to inform design decisions.
    • Advocate for accessibility, inclusivity and usability, ensuring solutions meet WCAG standards and internal design principles.
    • Contribute to the development and maintenance of UX standards, patterns and design systems across Bupa.
    • Gather and analyse qualitative and quantitative user feedback to continuously improve clinician and patient experiences.
    • Maintain awareness of digital health trends, emerging UX best practices and tooling relevant to clinical and regulated environments.
    • Support the delivery of digital solutions that improve clinician satisfaction, efficiency and patient outcomes.

    Skills/Experience

    • Proven experience working as a UX Designer, with a strong portfolio demonstrating user-centred problem solving and workflow design.
    • Experience designing complex tools, productivity software or clinician-facing systems.
    • Proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as Figma (essential).
    • Practical experience with user research methods and usability testing.
    • Comfortable working within agile, multidisciplinary delivery teams.
    • Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design principles.
    • Experience within healthcare, clinical or regulated digital environments is desirable but not essential.
    • Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate design rationale to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

    About You

    • Accountable: takes ownership of design outcomes and follows work through from concept to delivery.
    • User-focused: thinks deeply about clinician and patient needs, designing experiences that reduce friction and cognitive load.
    • Resilient and adaptable: thrives in fast-paced environments and responds positively to change and feedback.
    • Collaborative: builds strong working relationships across disciplines and contributes positively to team culture.
    • Detail-oriented: cares about quality, usability and accessibility in everything you design.
    • Always improving: continuously seeks opportunities to refine designs, processes and personal skills.
    • Curious and innovative: brings fresh ideas, challenges assumptions and embraces new approaches to problem solving.
