    Integrations Engineer

    Full-time, Permanent

    Hybrid - occasional travel to our Bristol office

    The Role

    The Integrations Engineer role is to work within the Integrations Engineering team to design, build, and maintain data integrations, API integrations, data pipelines and integration infrastructure for the Bupa Dental UK business.

    The Integrations Engineer will work within an Agile process to deliver secure, reliable integration solutions across operational systems, APIs, data platforms, analytics, reporting and AI initiatives, helping the business improve interoperability and data-driven decision making throughout Bupa Dental UK.

    Responsibilities

    • in-depth understanding of integration engineering fundamentals, including data integration, API integration and ETL/ELT best practices
    • experience designing and supporting RESTful API integrations, webhooks and event-driven integration patterns
    • mastered the tools needed to debug and diagnose issues in data pipelines, APIs and system-to-system integrations
    • the ability to understand data flows, API contracts and relationships between source systems, operational applications and the data warehouse
    • subject matter expertise in at least one area of the data platform or integration landscape
    • good understanding of data modelling concepts, dimensional design and integration data mapping
    • develop and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines and system integrations with appropriate logging, monitoring and error handling
    • design, build and support API integrations using REST APIs, JSON/XML payloads and secure authentication patterns
    • write efficient SQL queries and stored procedures
    • participate in code reviews, API design reviews and integration testing, providing constructive feedback
    • create and maintain documentation for data pipelines, API specifications, data mappings and integration processes
    • given a well-defined integration requirement, design and implement a complete end-to-end data or API integration solution

    Skills/Experience

    Essential:

    • Microsoft Azure Data Services (Data Factory, Data Lake Storage)
    • T-SQL and SQL Server
    • ETL/ELT concepts, data integration patterns and pipeline development
    • API integration experience, including REST APIs, JSON/XML payloads, webhooks and API testing tools
    • Understanding of secure integration practices, including authentication, authorisation, secrets management, logging and monitoring
    • Data modelling fundamentals, data mapping and data quality validation
    • Git version control
    • Understanding of data warehouse concepts
    • Problem-solving and analytical skills

    Desirable:

    • Azure Synapse Analytics
    • Python for Integrations Engineering
    • Power BI fundamentals
    • Snowflake Data Cloud
    • Azure DevOps
    • Data quality tools and frameworks
    • Healthcare or dental industry experience

    About You

    • show initiative and offer assistance to team members when needed
    • deliver feedback in a constructive manner
    • work collaboratively with senior engineers, incorporating feedback as needed
    • communicate data and integration issues, risks and progress clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
    • help maintain data catalogues, API documentation and integration design records
