    Senior Integrations Engineer

    Full Time/Permanent

    Hybrid - occasional travel to our Bristol office

    The Senior Integrations Engineer role is to provide technical leadership across data integrations and API integrations, designing and delivering robust, secure and scalable integration solutions for the Bupa Dental UK business.

    The Senior Integrations Engineer will work within an Agile process to build reliable data pipelines, API services and integration patterns that connect core business systems, enable analytics and reporting, and improve data-driven decision making throughout Bupa Dental UK.

    Key responsibilities will include:

    The Senior Integrations Engineer will have:

    • in-depth understanding of data engineering best practices, API integration patterns, performance optimisation, and data architecture principles
    • mastered the tools needed to debug and diagnose issues across complex data pipelines, APIs, integration services and infrastructure
    • the ability to understand the scope and relationships of data flows across multiple source systems, APIs, consumers and downstream platforms
    • subject matter expertise in data warehouse design, dimensional modelling, ETL/ELT patterns, API-led connectivity and system-to-system integration
    • strong understanding of data quality monitoring, API observability, alerting, and remediation strategies

    The Senior Integrations Engineer will be able to:

    • design and implement complex ETL/ELT pipelines and API integrations with appropriate security, error handling, monitoring and retry patterns
    • lead technical design decisions and architecture discussions for data integration, API integration and system interoperability
    • optimise data warehouse performance, API performance and query execution across integrated platforms
    • establish and maintain data catalogue documentation, metadata management, API specifications and integration design documentation
    • given a complex data or API integration requirement, architect and deliver an end-to-end solution from source system through to consuming application or reporting layer
    • define and implement secure API connectivity, including authentication, authorisation, rate limiting, logging and governance controls

    The Senior Integrations Engineer will:

    • mentor and guide Data Engineers and Integration Engineers on technical best practices
    • proactively identify data quality issues, API reliability concerns and performance bottlenecks
    • collaborate effectively with BI, Analytics, AI/ML, Product and operational teams to understand integration needs and deliver fit-for-purpose solutions
    • deliver constructive feedback and participate actively in code reviews, API design reviews and integration testing
    • stay current with emerging data integration and API technologies and recommend improvements

    What we are looking for:

    Essential:

    • Microsoft Azure Data Services (Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Data Lake Storage)
    • T-SQL and advanced SQL Server development
    • Data warehouse design and dimensional modelling (Star/Snowflake schemas)
    • ETL/ELT pipeline development (5+ years data engineering experience)
    • API integration design and delivery, including REST APIs, JSON/XML payloads, webhooks and event-driven integration patterns
    • Secure API implementation, including authentication, authorisation, secrets management and appropriate governance controls
    • Python for data engineering and integration automation
    • Git version control
    • Data quality monitoring, validation and reconciliation across integrated systems

    Desirable:

    • Power BI data modelling and DAX
    • Snowflake Data Cloud
    • Azure DevOps for CI/CD pipelines
    • Databricks or Apache Spark
    • Healthcare or dental industry experience
    • Master data management
    • Real-time data streaming (Event Hubs, Kafka)
